The Nhoi: Goa River Draw project is India’s largest single collaborative drawing and its 80.6 metres of vibrant imagery is a magnum opus of the imagination and a true celebration of the innate and thriving creativity of people everywhere.
Throughout 2018 over 500 adults and children took part in a series of on-site village workshops to draw 'their' river and explore all that it, the River Mandovi/Madhei, means to them through image making, story telling, reminiscence and reflection. Each workshop was offered as a simple invitation to join Bookworm Goa and local librarians for a hands-on, active art activity in the company of family, friends and neighbours conducted in a spirit of creative enquiry to make a lasting artwork with significance and meaning for one of the most urgent environmental issues of our world today—water.
The resulting Nhoi Drawing is a deep and personal reflection on the importance of the River—as a means of survival, as a repository of communal memory and as a thing of beauty. Visitors are warmly invited to visit the Children’s Park in Panjim, enjoy the Drawings and to add your own marks and ideas to the ongoing work of art that is the Nhoi: Goa River Draw.
